Benchrest League
The Individual Benchrest League has finished and resulted in a very tight win in division 1 for Alan Anderson of Hawick, who thus retains the title. Robin Thomson (Watsonians) was runner-up (again), by just one point.
Division 2 was won by Keith Nixon (Hawick), beating clubmate C McKendrick in 2nd.
Division 3 was won by Shayne Horton (Prestonpans) going one better than last year, with clubmate John Ginty in the runner-up spot.
Well done to everyone. It would be good to see more clubs participating in this though. Take the Competitions / Individual Benchrest League for full details.
Here’s an end of season report by the competition organiser:
Division 1 was down to the wire with Round 10 deciding the winner with scores of 200.008 and 200.007 for the top two. Alan Anderson (Hawick) just ahead of Robin Thomson (Watsonians) by the narrowest of margins, which secured the win.
6 competitors had at least one Round where they scored 200. The other 3 competitors in Division 1 ended up on the same gun score, 1983 x 2000 but where split only on the ‘X’ count within the 10 ring.
Division 2 was won by Keith Nixon who was the leading average for several Rounds at the start of the season.
Division 3 was an all Prestonpans affair with Shayne Horton just seeing off John Ginty (2nd) and Greg McMillan (3rd).
It is understood the Prestonpans will be improving their Benchrest facilities over the Summer, so we hope to see further improvements next season.
Benchrest may sound easy but as many of us have found out, it can be very challenging.
